November 2024 - Harry Potter Launch

Sandra visited all the 3rd and 4th classes this week to launch this year’s Harry Potter Party.

The Harry Potter Party, or Hogsmeade Fair, takes place in June. Honeydukes will be there selling sweets like chocolate frogs and bertie botts every flavour beans. The three broomsticks will be selling potion drinks

To get an invitation to the fair all you have to do is prove that you have read one Harry Potter book.

The stalls will not be accepting muggle money so you will have to earn some wizard money to buy treats and you can do that at the fair by doing Harry Potter activities like being sorted into your house or making your own wand.

However, there is a way to show up at the fair with wizard money already in your pocket! Read the books! For every Harry Potter book you can prove you read, Sandra will put a sticker in your homework journal which will be worth wizard money for the fair. The bigger books will be worth more money than the smaller ones.

Now this is not homework. It’s not a school project. It’s just for fun. So you have three options.

  1. If you hate Harry Potter then just ignore the whole thing and you can stay in class while the fair is on next summer.
  2. If you want to go to the fair but don’t want to do a lot of reading, just read the first book and get your invitation, you will still be able to earn money and get some treats.
  3. If you love Harry Potter or just love chocolate! Read as many books as you can and make extra money to get extra treats for yourself or your friends. If you manage to read all 7 you get a special badge.

You can come in to the office anytime with your homework journal to get a sticker.

This is the best party in the school. Really! Some of you who don’t go this year will be begging Sandra in fifth and sixth class for a chance to come to the Harry Potter party. Well you can’t. This year is your only chance so make the most of it!

November 2024 - Re-turn Rivalry

The Re-turn Rivalry competition got off to a great start today with the classes collecting three huge bags of cans and plastic bottles. Congratulations to Ms Heffernan’s class who managed to collect over 100 units on the first day! They win a homework pass for the class. The Parents Association are also offering a homework pass to the first class to get to 500 units!

The first day, we collected 426 units and made 71 euros!

The class rivalry runs all month and the class that brings in the most cans and bottles for the month wins a pizza party in December so get recycling!

October 2024 - Halloween

The school went a bit mad today with ghosts and dinosaurs stalking the halls and invisible men sitting in class! Ms Courtney’s class organised the annual dress up competition which was won by Timur Bakirov! The homemade costumes were fabulous and obviously took a lot of time, effort and imagination! Well done everyone!

October 2024 - Credit Union Art

The theme for this year’s Credit Union art competition was ‘The Joys of Life’. Over 60 artists in the school entered their interpretations of the theme. Below is a selection of entries. Emma Jacques wrote a poem to go with her entry!

October 2024 - Heritage in Schools Visit

Ross Cochrane from The Heritage Council is visiting the school to bring all the classes around the grounds to explore our wonderful nature walk. The children gained a lot of information about our natural environment here in RSNS and had a great time despite the rain!
