September 2024 - MSD Visit 5th Class
On Monday 23rd September, Scientists came to visit from MSD in Dunboyne. They showed us a video about what they do each day at work. After the video, they explained the first activity to us. The first activity was a challenge between all the tables to see who could make the highest tower using marshmallows and uncooked spaghetti. During the second activity, we made slime out of cornflour and water. For the last activity, we used a few small potatoes and attached a coin into them. We attached wires to these coins and to a little light to create a circuit. This took us a while to work but it was cool when it did work. We really enjoyed the visit and learned lots of new interesting facts about engineering, physics and chemistry.

September 2024 - Ms Heffernan’s Class Sunflower Seed Harvest
Ms. Heffernan’s class are learning all about Plants, Biodiversity and the Life Cycle of a Sunflower in Science.

We had great fun picking our seeds out and the excess seeds we will put in the bird feeders on the school grounds when the weather gets cold.
September 2024 - Ms Murray’s Class Maths
In Ms Murray’s 5th class, we have begun implementing the New Primary Mathematics Curriculum in our learning.
The new curriculum includes more learning through play and problem solving.
We really enjoyed using our maths manipulatives to help us with learning place value!
