April 2025 - Ms Heffernan’s class experiment with circuits
Ms. Heffernan’s class enjoyed conducting experiments to make a series of electrical circuits in groups recently.
Science lessons are very fun as you can see!

Class of the Month : Ms Kearney’s Class
Ms. Heffernan’s class enjoyed Maths Week this week.
We took part in an online ‘Maths Quiz’ and used the I-zak 9 cubes to solve problems.

On Monday 23rd September, Scientists came to visit from MSD in Dunboyne. They showed us a video about what they do each day at work. After the video, they explained the first activity to us. The first activity was a challenge between all the tables to see who could make the highest tower using marshmallows and uncooked spaghetti. During the second activity, we made slime out of cornflour and water. For the last activity, we used a few small potatoes and attached a coin into them. We attached wires to these coins and to a little light to create a circuit. This took us a while to work but it was cool when it did work. We really enjoyed the visit and learned lots of new interesting facts about engineering, physics and chemistry.

In Ms Murray’s 5th class, we have begun implementing the New Primary Mathematics Curriculum in our learning.
The new curriculum includes more learning through play and problem solving.
We really enjoyed using our maths manipulatives to help us with learning place value!
