April 2025 - Children’s Books Ireland Awards
Today in Ms. Campion’s Sixth Class we were delighted to welcome Ashley Tallintire from KPMG as part of the ‘KPMG Volunteer visit’ to read some of the book ‘Fia and the Last Snow Deer’ written by Eilish Fisher with us.
Ashley read and discussed the book with the class, exploring the characters and looking at the illustrations by Dermot Flynn. We also designed our own reimagined book covers.
The class is participating in the KPMG Children’s Books Ireland Awards 2025 whereby we read a number of books and give our feedback on them in the Junior Juries category. We have borrowed some of the shortlisted books from Ashbourne Library and look forward to voting on these books soon. Go raibh maith agat, Ashley, for taking the time to visit us in Ratoath Senior National School!

December 2024 - Joe Jordan - BMX Champ!
Hi! My name is Joe Jordan and I am in Mr Mulvany’s 6th class.
This year, I competed in the BMX Irish National Series Competition.
BMX is a sport where you ride a bike over a series of big and difficult jumps. It is great fun and exciting to do.
This year I came first in Ireland in the BMX Irish National Series for my age group (11-12 years).
I earned a total of 465 points in the competitions I took part in throughout the year across Ireland to take the win.
I rode really well this year.

October 2024 - Coding with MS Dream Space
On Friday 18th of October, Ms. Campion’s class took part in Microsoft’s Dream Space:LIVE as part of Maths Week.
We learned how Maths can lead to cool careers such as gaming or being a data analyst. We took part in a Mathathon and learned some coding. Lorraine and Michael showed us to use micro:bit; sequencing blocks to create codes. Here we are pictured with the coding we worked on using our iPads on Microsoft’s micro:bit. Thank you to Dream Space Dublin for hosting such a fun event! #IUseMaths

September 2024 - Ms Courtney’s Lighthouses
In Ms Courtney’s 6th class, we have been learning all about the Irish coast and also about circuits from our visit from MSD.
We created lighthouses based on famous Irish lighthouse designs and constructed circuits using copper conductors, coin batteries and LED bulbs.

September 2024 - MSD Visit 6th Class
Thank you so much to all the volunteers from MSD who came into the school to teach us about non-Newtonian liquids and engineering challenges.
We learnt a lot and had a real laugh!
